Strengthening the Democratic Party

As the current District Leader, Ramdat co-founded the Unity Democratic Club as a vehicle to further political engagement within the northwest Bronx. He has helped get Democrats elected in tough elections, such as Pat Ryan and Tom Souzzi for Congress, and Kathy Hochul for Governor. He has supported numerous campaigns to elect female Democratic legislators, such as Majority Leader Amanda Farias, Councilmember Pierina Sanchez, and former Councilmember Marjorie Velazquez, and he actively supported Senators Robert Jackson and Gustavo Rivera with their reelection campaigns.  A major priority for Democrats is to regain the House of Representative seats Democrats lost in New York in the midterms. This November the Equal Rights Amendment will be on the ballot, and we must educate our community to ensure that the ERA is enshrined in our State Constitution.

Local Priorities

Overall, in the Bronx, we have seen low voter turnout, and low voter registration rates. As District Leader, Ramdat has led many voters’ registration drives around the district, ensuring that members of our communities are registered, especially our youth. A recent report by NYC Votes demonstrates that youth voter registration has increased within the past two years, as well as youth voter turnout, but we still have more work to do. If re-elected, Ramdat intends to lead voter registration drives, and engage with community organizations on the importance of voting in local elections and ballot initiatives
