Abigail was elected District Leader of the 81st Assembly District in 2022, alongside Ramdat Singh. With a professional background in social work, Abigail began her career advocating for children in foster care at the Bronx Family Court. There, she mastered the complexities of navigating New York City’s various systems and learned how to advocate on behalf of her clients to secure services and benefits for them. Ten years of fighting for a dignified life for vulnerable New Yorkers had a profound impact on Abigail, and that experience informs her desire to bring positive change to her community today. In 2021, motivated by the challenges of the pandemic and her early professional experiences, Abigail ran for New York City Council in the 11th District. Her experience in her City Council campaign highlighted the need to improve voter turnout in the Bronx, prompting her to run for Democratic Party District Leader. Since winning the election in 2022, Abigail has partnered with local activists to form the Unity Democratic Club, brought Narcan training to the community, planned an annual toy and food drive at PS 95, and worked with the Board of Elections to staff local poll sites. Abigail also worked to get Democrats throughout New York State elected and re-elected, including Pat Ryan, Tom Suozzi, Governor Hochul, Senator Gustavo Rivera, Senator Robert Jackson, and Councilwoman Pierina Sanchez. Currently, Abigail serves as the Political Director of Eleanor’s Legacy, a political organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting pro-choice Democratic women running for office across New York State. She is also the president of her 106-unit Co-op Board. Abigail is passionate about electing pro-choice Democratic women, addressing gun violence, and fostering community relationships. Abigail volunteers with Moms Demand Action and the Parent’s Association at P.S. 81 in North Riverdale. In her personal time, Abigail enjoys exploring local restaurants, biking with her three children through Van Cortlandt Park, and spending time with her husband.
